Greetings, we are hobby breeders of birds in North Georgia. We are Licensed with the state of Georgia, by the department of Agriculture.  We have an open heart and open home policy for all birds.  We will take in and rescue birds as well, and occasionally adopt birds from people who have no choice but to give them up. Due to the nature of what we do, we ask that you contact us about adopting your bird in advance, so that we can agree upon terms.

Currently we are breeding lovebirds and Green Cheek Conures that are hand raised for pets. Our birds are raised in a family environment where they get used to the TV, vacuum cleaner, kids and all of the noises and sounds associated with a home.  We also work with a few other local breeders and have access to Sun Conures and Cockatiels on a regular basis.

Most Rescue's are taught basic socialization skills with both humans and other birds and are then adopted out as pets to permanent homes  (unless we fall in love with them and they become a part of our family).

We work closely with a few other local rescue's for our special needs birds. Rescue's are not bred as a rule however there are always exceptions to the rule . Email us for additional details if you are considering placing a bird with us. We will be happy to respond to your questions and hopefully ease your concerns if you are giving up your bird due to unavoidable circumstances.

All of our babies are handfed/raised and sociable. Some birds are better than other's for certain people so make sure you check out our Picture and Info pages for more information on our birds prior to buying . Most birds have a long lifespan so purchasing a bird will mean a long commitment.

I welcome any customer that is looking into buying a bird to visit and view and handle the babies - when they are close to weaning, or old enough to go to their new homes.  I have a closed policy on my aviary area though.

The reason I have a closed policy for my adult breeding bird room is if my breeders are laying or sitting on eggs, having people intrude in their space can cause some of the hens to stop sitting their eggs or to even abandon their young.  Also I do not know if our visitors have been visiting other areas where they may have handled birds, like pet stores, or other breeders - and I want to make sure that my birds are not exposed to any outside avian diseases.  I'm not saying that other birds are diseased, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Any time we accept new birds we have a quarantine area that we bring them for at least two weeks to make sure that they can be integrated into our aviary and our home safely.

Some people have asked me about my avian vet. I use Dr. DeLong DMV, in Lawrenceville Ga.  He is an experienced Avian and Exotic Animal Vet, and I really like the care he takes with my birds.  The name of his office is "Avalon Animal Hospital", and it is over 20 miles from my home.  We have another vet for our other animals, but I believe it is very important to have an experienced "Avian" vet working with my birds.  If anyone would like to know more about Dr. DeLong, so that they can set up their well baby check up, feel free to e-mail me.  We also take advantage of Dr. Wilson the board certified Avian vet at the University of Georgia.

An "avian veterinarian" is any veterinarian that is willing to treat birds; any veterinarian can call themselves an avian veterinarian. A "certified avian veterinarian" is one who has obtained certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), this means that they have not only worked with birds but have taken and passed a very difficult series of tests to prove their knowledge in dealing with birds.  There is a middle group of veterinarians, those associated with the AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians) which does provide ongoing conferences and mentoring for veterinarians that wish to treat birds. There are only three (3) board certified avian veterinarians in the state of Georgia (according to the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners)  Dr. Samuel Rivera in Acworth , Dr. Mimi Shepherd in Decatur and Dr. Heather Wilson in Athens (University of Georgia).  Click Here for a complete list of all board certified avian vets in the United States.
