Guarantee Deposits

Shipping is available - major airlines only at buyer's expense (Shipping and Insurance), weather permitting. We ship out of Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta GA. Our experience is that air travel is much less stressful for the birds than driving. We prefer to ship two or more birds, it's cheaper - but it is up to the Buyer. More than one bird can be shipped in a crate, depending on configuration and the way the birds get along. Buyer can either prepay the shipping charges or pay at pickup. A crate deposit of $25 is required in advance but will be refunded if crate is returned to us within 10 days of shipment and in as good a condition as sent. Buyer must prepay any health certificate fees, or veterinary work requested. Health Certificate: Delta doesn't require this, but if your state does or if you ship other than Delta, then we can get it for you, plan $75 for this certificate. Most of our shipments are done via
DELTA PET FIRST, 1-888-736-3738 Risks associated with air shipping are minimal, but Buyer must assume responsibility for this risk. We have had great service shipping with Delta (Atlanta is their home hub) but Shady Brook Aviary can not warranty the successful delivery of any bird that is shipped, please make sure you insure your bird. ________________________________________________________ We can drive to meet and deliver birds, we will deliver within 55 miles of Flowery Branch Georgia for a minimum fee of $15.00 - beyond that we charge a flat rate of 35 cents ($.35) per mile. Limited to 200 miles.

Unless otherwise stated, all birds come with a 72 hour limited health guarantee. All birds are guaranteed to be in good health, with no genetic defects and no contagious diseases at the time of purchase. You should have your vet (preferably a certified avian veterinarian) perform a complete health examination within the allotted time period of 72 hours of purchase. If your vet discovers a contagious disease or a genetic defect we will, at our discretion, replace the bird with one of the same kind, or buy the bird back. We reserve the right to obtain a second opinion at our expense. Birds once purchased are not returnable except under the conditions set out in this Health Guarantee. Failure to adhere to these requirements indicates you have purchased the bird "as-is", and waive any warranties of health or fitness.

Deposits are accepted on birds that have hatched. Deposits are non-refundable and are designed to "hold" a bird until purchase. Deposits will hold a bird until 1 week after weaning or for 30 days from receipt - which ever is longer, unless other arrangements are made. Shady Brook Aviary will let you know when the baby weans so you can plan accordingly. Different species, and sometimes different mutations have different deposit amounts (see below). If you wish to have your bird DNA tested, that costs an additional $25, and adds $5.00 to the deposit.
